random thoughts. Ive had a few (receivers!) and presently would not part with

ICR-2500. AR8600 I sold after 1 week hated the thing deaf as a post above

1300mhz but very good at UHF/VHF but I didmt get on with the software.

Icom 8500 is a classy piece of kit but doesn't go high enough in freq for s-band

However unrelated, I can say that the SDR-IQ is the best piece of equipment in the world.!

All my receivers and scanners have been Icom or AOR going up to 3Ghz we just got digital satellite tv for the international channels mainly so i don't know if Icom or AOR is better.

Hi all,

I've owned an ICR-7000 and compared to the AR5000, there is a huge difference. Above 1Ghz, the 7000 sensitivity was so poor. Moreover the IF filters commodity of the AR5000 makes the differences also.

Even my AR3000 has a better sensitivity than the ICR7000.

However I've to recognize that the AOR receiver ergonomy is not so good according to me.

ICOM IC-7100 RX.

Hi horusT,
I´ve not compaired it to the AOR AR8600 so hard to say.
I am very satisfied with my Icom and there are also two switchable filters for FM. The normal FM is ~15 Khz and the other FM Narrow Filter is ~6 Khz wide. (There is of course a WFM ca. ~150 Khz. Filter as well.)
In my opinion a great receiver.

ICOM IC-7100

Nils,

How do you like the ICOM IC-R7100 receiver. I have read that it is more sensitive on the NFM mode that most receivers. Do you know how it compares to the AOR AR8600. I would like to buy one. I am leaning toward buying a ICOM IC-R7100.

Used Radios for Satellites

I´m using an ICOM IC-R7100 and Alinco DJ-X3 rx for the main bands (together with an softrock 10,7Mhz. SDR). And an R2FX VHF receiver for 137Mhz APT.
