Working with HRPT
Submitted by pgschmidt on Sat, 05/09/2009 - 12:55.
G'day All
Been a while since I posted however I have recently brought a Icom IC-PCR1500 to solve bandwidth issues that I suffered with my Uniden Bearcat UBC9000XLT when listening to APT. Images are now comming in clearer. Can anyone suggest how it might be used for HRPT receiving as I understand the transmission is performed by phase shifting the carrier, correct me if I am wrong. So the big questions is how do I get this from the radio so I can use the data.
Thanks in advance

HRPT
Hi,
For HRPT you need a L-Band receiver with a couple of MHz of bandwidth, plus of course the demodulator for the actual data. As far as I know, you cannot use your existing receivers for this. It may be worth searching on eBay for suitable hardware as the cost of new stuff seems a bit high.
regards,
Paul.
